Record amount of methamfetamine seized in Rotterdam warehouse
Two weeks ago (26-07-2019) a record amount of 2.5 tonnes of methamfetamine was found and seized near the Port of Rotterdam. According to narcotics, this is the largest seizure of this drug made in Europe. The police said that in a follow up raid on a warehouse they found 17.500 liters of chemicals to clean and remove impurities of the Methamfetamine.
The police found nothing when they entered the warehouse, and it was only when they noticed that the dimensions of the upper floor were bigger from the outside than from the inside that they found fake walls packed full of drugs.
Worth of Methamfetamine
This batch of drug is estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of Euros depending on the location of sale. One gram is supposedly worth a hundred Euros in the Netherlands. It is said that narcotics have destroyed the batch of drugs.

Methamphetamine is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system. Crystal methamphetamine is a form of the drug that looks like glass fragments or shiny, bluish-white rocks. It is chemically similar to amphetamine, a drug used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy, a sleep disorder.
Other common names for methamphetamine include blue, crystal, ice, meth, and speed.

Physical side effects
loss of appetite, hyperactivity, dilated pupils, flushed skin, excessive sweating, increased movement, dry mouth and teeth grinding (leading to “meth mouth”), headache, irregular heartbeat (usually as accelerated heartbeat or slowed heartbeat), rapid breathing, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, high body temperature, diarrhea, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, twitching, numbness, tremors, dry skin, acne, and pale appearance.
Psychological side effects
As if the physical effects are not enough, there are also a lot of psychological effects:
Euphoria, dysphoria, changes in libido, alertness, apprehension and concentration, decreased sense of fatigue, insomnia or wakefulness, self-confidence, sociability, irritability, restlessness, grandiosity and repetitive and obsessive behaviors. Peculiar to methamphetamine and related stimulants is “punding”, persistent non-goal-directed repetitive activity. Methamphetamine use also has a high association with anxiety, depression, amphetamine psychosis, suicide, and violent behaviors.
